AVP-17 is no longer in production.
We are working on future generation of AVP but we are unable to confirm any product information or release date. Any new AVP products are unlikely to be released before August 2010. We recommend customers to purchase "best-of-breed" AVP to match our multi-channel amps. Some suggestions:
Anthem D2V, Marantz AV8003, Integra DHC-9.9, Onkyo PR-SC886, Denon DN-A710
NuForce AVP 17
Designed for simplicity and expandability, the AVP 17’s focus, as with all NuForce products, is on first-rate performance. The unit’s 7.1-channel analog inputs (8 total channels) have been designed to support the decoded output from present and future DVD players. With its video circuit off, the AVP-17 operates as a true audiophile-quality preamp. The internal DAC (44.1K/16-bit to 192K/24-bit) performs as well as the best stand-alone DACs available today. Those
who listen to the AVP-17 are struck by its dynamic capability, smooth, lifelike midrange, and natural, grain-free treble. The deep, articulate bass provides plenty of kick for both music and movie soundtracks.
While it's certainly true that Dolby HD can be decoded and transmitted to the audio system via HDMI 1.3, HDMI transmissions necessitate interleaving audio and video data streams, thus introducing jitter to the encoding-decoding process.
With respect to Blu-Ray and HD DVD with built-in HD audio decoding, the audio system’s analog output is much likelier to provide superior audio performance. Discerning listeners have discovered that disabling HDMI audio from their DVD players improves the sound.
We soon expect to see Japanese manufacturers producing Blu-Ray players with high-performance audio output, once again demonstrating that, rather than decoding via HDMI, high-quality source components produce the best audio.

The OPPO HM-31 Advanced 3x1 HDMI Switch is able to expand a single HDMI input port on your HDTV to connect up to three HDMI sources, such as DVD, Blu-ray or HD-DVD players, cable or satellite receivers, and gaming consoles.
The OPPO HM-31 is among the very few HDMI switches to pass the official HDMI 1.3 certification test. The certification ensures that the HM-31 is compatible with all HDTV resolutions up to 1080p and PC resolutions up to 1920x1200. Equipped with advanced HDMI 1.3 features such as Deep Color, higher bandwidth and a signal equalizer, the HM-31 is ready to support the latest generation of home theater products.
The HM-31 transmits rich, vibrant images and sound while maintaining the highest in video and audio quality. It is EIA/CEA-861D, DVI 1.0, and HDCP 1.1 compliant and supports DDC and HPD switching to ensure maximum device compatibility. Equipped with a remote control, this switch provides the option of resting on a table-top or mounted on a wall. Custom home theater installers will find the IR input convenient options for integration. With the worries of HDMI connectivity problems put behind by the HM-31,
it’s now time to enjoy your HD entertainment, whether it’s from your favorite OPPO up-converting DVD player or any other HDMI source. |
