Q. How do I import external music files into MSR-1 library?
MSR-1 uses a customized version of JRiver player (it doesn't use the ripper or database from JRiver so never update the JRiver Media Center to a newer version) and you can enter the standard mode to import external music files into the library (the music files will not be copied). -> Import external music files
Q.I don't have enough room to fit the SMC Easy G connector into the USB slot.
Because the slots are closely positioned, we provide a USB Extender with the MSR-1. You simply connect the extender to the MSR-1's USB slot and attach the SMC Easy Connector G to the extender.
Q. Why can't I get my MSR-1's remote controller to work?
In order for the MSR-1's remote controller to work, the USB receptor must be plugged into your computer. Press the button on the USB receptor and notice the blinking LED. When you've done this, depress the Back and Information buttons on the remote controller simultaneously for about three seconds in order to accomplish synchronization. The Back and Information buttons are located just above the MSR-1 controller's Arrow Key and Scroll Ball. You will notice that the USB receptor LED blinking faster and then stop, which means the pairing has completed. If the LED on the USB receptor does not blink faster, try to press the controller's Back and Information buttons again.
Q.How can I adjust fan speed and Display LED brightness?
DIP switches on the MSR-1's underside allow for internal fan and Display LED adjustments.
Switch 1: ON runs the fan at full speed. OFF runs the fan at a lower speed, thus reducing noise. At the lower speed setting, more heat will be dissipated through the top of the MSR-1. If you set Switch 1 to OFF, you must allow for sufficient clearance and ventilation above your unit.
Switch 2: ON turns on the white LED. OFF turns off the white LED.
Switch 3: Leave Switch 3 in the ON position.
Switch 4: ON turns on the blue LED. OFF turns off blue LED. Note: The blue LED illuminates only during Hard Disk activity.
Q.The Key Board feature could not show up after using WIFI or ISONATA?
The Key Board application that shows up in isonata and wifi for setup needs to be closed after every use. Otherwise the Key Board application will move behind the screen and won't be able to use it again until MSR-1 restarts.
Q.The Wifi screen stops appearing sometimes, or after opening a couple of times?
The Wifi application must be closed properly after using every time as well, or else the application will not show it again until MSR-1 restarts.
Q.The MSR-1 froze when trying to delete a newly imported album?
After ripping a CD, do not immediately delete the CD album, it will cause the MSR-1 to freeze. This is because after ripping a CD, the database requires time to upload its data, by deleting the album it conflict with the database, thus, causing the MSR-1 to freeze.
Q.How can I import album pictures to folders that do not have an album picture?
First, the music files that you want to import should be saved on an external drive. Then in MSR-1 press Ctrl+1 to activate the music center interface. Left click on existing albums there will be an option that labeled "Cover Art", finally add the cover art through selecting the pictures in your external drive.
Ripping FAQ
Q. When I insert a CD into MSR-1 how do I know when the ripping is done?
There is no status signal for the ripping process. Depending on the CD, the MSR-1 should be finished ripping in about five minutes. When the CD is ejected, you will know that the job has been completed.
Q. How come I cannot re-rip a CD once it is deleted?
Please use the Windows file manager to delete the unwanted music from the MSR-1, because the three options to delete on the msr-1 do not delete the files completely. Ultimately it will cause the system to recognize that the file still exists on the MSR-1, and won't let the system re-rip.
- If the Album is 'Removed from Library', it cannot be restored nor it cannot be re-ripped.
- If the Album is 'Removed to Recycle', it is removed from the Library, but cannot be re-ripped.
- If the Album is 'Delete File', the tracks are removed (not in recycle), but yet cannot be re-ripped.
Q.The Rip CD option does not work, after clicking a couple of times the CD gets ejected.
Once the CD is inserted into the slot, it will rip automatically without any status. Do not press "Rip CD" repetitively, it will overload the system, and the CD will become ejected.

Then, on the top left corner you will find a tab saying "Player", under "Player" you should be able to find the repeat option. Finally, you should be able to select off, to turn it off.
Q. How can I build a play list with only my favorite songs?
To build a playing list on the MSR-1, you have select all the music that you want on the play list to "Playing now", and then through the "Playing now" you should be able to store the songs and music as a single play list.
Q. The "View" option does not always work, sometimes it only displays "Toggle Thumbnails detail lineup"?
The view option only works in the audio main directory, because the "View" option is used to sort out all the music from different genre and artists. Hence, by accessing individual folders there is no music for "View" to sort.
