"Importing" external music files into MSR-1
  1. Shutdown MSR-1. Connect standard PC keyboard and mouse to MSR-1.
  2. Restart MSR-1 and after the Music Server main menu has shown up, press 'CTRL-1' (Ctrl and 1 keys) to enter a hidden configuration screen. MSR-1 uses a customized JRiver user interface (it does not use JRiver ripper or database).
  3. Use the mouse to navigate to the top level File menu, and then Library and Import Folder sub menu.
  4. The Import Folder function box will pop out. If you want this folder (could be mounted on an external hard disk or network drive) to be automatically imported every time MSR-1 is powered up (you will want to do that if you add music files to this external folder), select 'Add this folder to auto-import list'. If this is a one time import, you should uncheck this option.
  5. Please note that the selected folder files are not physically copied to MSR and if the files are moved or deleted, then MSR cannot find the imported files. The 'imported folder' must be available and connected to MSR (such as external USB hard disk, or Network storage) to play back the imported music. Click Browse and select the Music Library on the remote storage that you want to import.
  6. Click Import.
  7. The lower left corner of the screen will show the activity "Importing Media". If the library is very large, it could take hours for MSR-1 to sort and index the imported music, if library is very large
